Getting ready to move-in? Here are some packing dos and don’ts!!

Bedding and Bath
• Extra-long twin sheets (80” x 34”) – Mattresses are XL Twin sizes
• Pillows, pillowcases, blanket and/or comforter and mattress pad
• Bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths; personal toiletries; shower shoes; toiletry tote or shower caddy

Basics
• Backpack
• Personal computer (Laptops strongly recommended instead of desk top computer)
• Laundry detergent (laundry machines are coin and mobile app. operated); Laundry bag or basket
• Cleaning supplies for personal use (san itizer sprays, cleaning wipes, sponges, paper towels, dish soap,
mini vacuum, Swiffer mops, garbage bags, etc.)
• Power strips & surge protectors for electronics (no extension cords)

Additional Recommendations to Consider
• For Desk: Alarm clock; reading lamp; Printer (for personal use)
• To Share: Rug; TV ((recommend size 60 inches or less); Iron and mini ironing board; mirror
• Fan
• Items for storage and organization; plates/bowls/flatware/cups/mugs; food storage bags or containers;
hangers
• Bikes are allowed on campus (outdoor racks available on campus for bike storage)

What Not To Bring
• No microwave - all rooms are equipped with microwave & mini-fridge unit.
• No refrigerators of any size - all rooms are equipped with microwave & mini-fridge unit.
• No air conditioning unit of any kind (fans are permitted)
• No wireless connection devices (routers)
• No extension cords
• No food preparation appliances with exposed heating coils
• No amplified musical instruments
• No halogen lamps
• No candles (or any other flammable item)
• No pets (fish are permitted within a 10-gallon tank)
• No décor items that require screws, drills, or permanent attachments

NOTE: Cal Maritime is a no smoking, alcohol & drug free campus. Residence Life does not allow the use or
possession of alcohol or drugs including paraphernalia the residence halls. Additionally, no weapons of any
kind are allowed on campus and in the residence halls.
